Dear
Faith Partners,
Today
we had organized time with the 5- and 6-year-old boys. At breakfast
we had planned an elaborate activity with stations, crafts, and
dancing in order to get the maximum amount of fun out of the short
hour we had. When the boys came in the door, they immediately ran
towards the beach balls and the bubbles and I knew the station idea
was out of the question. The great part about El Hogar is that the
spontaneity is what made it such a great time. I saw God in that
auditorium tonight. The laughter and joy on the children's faces is
where I always see God here. They are so open and loving the second
you meet them and it's heart-warming.
My
favorite part about this trip so far is seeing the children and how
they look out for each other. On Sunday when we went out to lunch
with the honor roll students a younger girl had finished her drink
and wanted more, so the girl sitting next to here poured the rest of
her drink in the younger girl's cup. All of the children look out for
each other, and the moments like this make me smile every time I'm
here.
Thank
you for following us on the blog and making donations to make this
trip possible!

For
Tuesday, July 29th: O heavenly Father, who has filled the
world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand
in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may
learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom
all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(Apologies, but we were asked not to take photos during the day while we were working. Some of us painted, others laid concrete to patch up potholes, and those of us with Spanish proficiency tutored some of the kids who are struggling with their classes.)
(The morning presentation began with the Honduran national anthem.)
(Each class has the opportunity to perform; these third-graders told jokes.)
(These fifth-grade girls did a traditional Honduran dance.)

Funny how life and joy just change our plans. Well told Nia! Blessings for all
